NYSE Handbook
Coaches & PLayers expectations
• I will arrive early for practice and games, so I am prepared to play.
• I will attend every practice and game! I will notify the coaches if I cannot make it.
• I will remember that sports are an opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun.
• I will respect team rules and will be polite in discussing concerns with my fellow coaches, teammates and staff members.
playing time and substitution rules
• Games are scheduled for 14-minute halves.
• Each coach must commit to playing all of the players as equitably as possible during the course of the game.
• Substitutions are automatic at the minutes 10:30, 7:00 and 3:30 of each half. Whenever substitutions are made, the Coach must “Clear the Bench”. In other words, those players which are sitting must play at the next substitution break. This also means that in our league you cannot substitute each time you desire but on those specific times. (*The only exception to this rule will be, from the 3:30 mark of the second half and on, it will be coaches’ discretion on the substitutions. Meaning you can sub in and out only during that time.)
• Substitutions are not timeouts. Players need to get in and out quickly and preferably be at the scores table before the automatic times.
• Teams will receive 3 timeouts total for the game. *If game goes into overtime, each team will receive 1 additional timeout.
• Teams that have 9 or less players will need to repeat them for two sequences and then need to be sub out.
• No player is allowed to play a full half unless the team only has 5-6 players total during the game.
• Teams that have 10 or more players, they all need to be subbed out each sequence. Except when we arrive at the 3:30 mark of the second half.
• No player is allowed to play the full game unless the team only has 5 players available.
game clock procedures
The clock is a running clock, which means once the game begins, the clock will only stop for the following reasons:
• When a team calls a time out
• When an official tells the scores table to because of an injury, equipment problem, untied shoelaces, etc.
• During the last minute of each half the clock is stopped each time the ball goes out of bounds, there is a score, or any of the above-mentioned events.
